Green Schools Committee

  • One pupil from each class (3rd to 6th) is selected to represent their class on the Green Schools Committee.

  • The Committee meets on a regular basis under the watchful eye of Miss Redden.

  • This year St. Mary's are working towards our second Green Flag awarded for the theme of Energy.

Energy Helpers

There are 36 classrooms in the school and there is an Energy Helper in every single class. It is their job to turn off the lights and close the doors to conserve heat and energy.

4th Class pupils 'patrol' the corridors at breaktime to find out which clases are the best for saving energy. At the end of the week, they announce the winners over the intercom and present the class with a certificate.

GREEN CODE COMPETITION
We ran a competition to find A MOTTO OR SLOGAN  known as our 'Green Code'. The winning entry was from Mrs. McCann's third class. Their prize is to attend a workshop facilitated by SEAI, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. They will take part in fun activities and games on the theme of energy conservation. 10 classes in total will participate over a 3 day period in January. We're very excited.
