After School Clubs 2021-22
Here are all the details for After-school Clubs 2019/20. Full details of costs/times etc are on registration forms which can be found on the links below. Once you have found a club you like then you need to sign up...

To sign up:

  • Check the timetable below to see what day the club is on.
  • Please note the class levels for each club.
  • Click on the link to register and fill in all details
  • You will receive an email from the club organiser confirming that the club will go ahead and whether your child has a place. Note that spaces may be limited in certain clubs.
  • All clubs will begin in the week starting on September 30th.

After School Sports Club - -This club takes place each Thursday and aims to provide lots of fun activities in an inclusive environment - basketball, football, unihoc, dodgeball, rounders, hurling, dance and lots more. They will guaranteed to be tired after this one! For info email bkelly@smpps.ie.

Art Club: Art and crafts club allows children to explore their creative side through the process of art. Children explore various mediums and tools to express themselves artistically. From clay to pastels and everything in between, every child will have the opportunity to create, construct and collaborate with friends. Children learn to make personal choices, contribute ideas, and work independently. For the child who is passionate about art and wants to have fun on the journey to producing works of art and keepsakes. Classes run from 3-4pm on Thursdays for 2nd to 6th class, with Ms. Clerkin and Ms. Shaw. For further information contact rclerkin@smpps.ie or sshaw@smpps.ie

Athletics and Outdoor activities - This club is for any child who loves being active. In this club children will have the opportunity to enjoy running, jumping, throwing and playing playground games and activities organised by the teacher. The aim of this club is to get students active after school and to promote physical activity in a fun environment. This club will run on Wednesdays from 3-4pm for 1st-6th class students. Coding Club provides a space for children to learn about digital skills and coding in a safe, fun environment. We provide easy to follow coding projects which help children from 1st -6th  learn Scratch by making games, animations and stories. The projects gradually introduce coding concepts to allow children to grow their understanding of digital making.  Limited Spaces Available. Computer Club: This club will involve students improving their computer skills as well as developing new ones in a fun and collaborative environment. Students will make digital projects and presentations both individually and in groups. They will also create their own digital stories, short movies and experience a range of other fun applications. This club will run on Thursdays from 3-4pm for 1st-6th class students. For more information email ckeenan@smpps.ie

Creative Kids Club: this club will develop creative thinking and writing skills in a fun and interactive space, without the pressure of the classroom environment. We bring our stories to life through art, drama, movie creation and games. Join our club to make new friends, to share and develop your talents and most of all to have fun. “Let your imagination run wild.” Thursday, 3pm-4pm, 1st-6th class welcome. D.A.N.C.E Club: is a high energy class where students will explore many varieties of dance such as Swing, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Tap and Contemporary. Students will learn how to build coordination and rhythm, as well as learn how to get inside the mind of a choreographer, learning the tips and fundamentals to creating dance routines. They will be taken through a series of steps and movements, learning choreographed routines. Dance is a form of expression and individuality, and I look forward to working with your children. Debating Club - Love the sound of your own voice? This club provides children with an opportunity to discuss, dissect and debate a range of topical issues relevant to the lives of children today. From contemporary issues to courtroom cases, this club provides children with an opportunity to develop communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills along with building confidence in public speaking. Debating club will run each Tuesday from 3-4pm and is suitable for all children from 4th-6th class. Limited spaces available. For more information please email: nherron@smpps.ie

Friday Futsal / Football Club: This camp takes place each Friday. The children will play Futsal for 30 minutes in the hall and soccer outside for 30 minutes. There will be a mixture of football leagues and prizes to be won. Football Club will be fully supervised and run by two teachers each Friday and we aim to bring back street leagues. Feel Free Friday: A relaxing club for children on a Friday. Children will get involved in a variety of fun and relaxing activities designed to both entertain and stretch young minds. Activities range from computers, tablets, dance, film making, art, board games, cooking and more. Open to: 1st -6th classes. Feel free to contact ksaurin@smpps.ie

Guitar: Guitar Club caters for children from 3rd-6th class with various levels of experience including total beginners. The children will learn chords in order to play accompaniment for a number of songs which will increase in difficulty as they progress throughout the year. Through learning the guitar children will develop their memory skills, enhance their coordination, improve concentration and most importantly have fun while learning a musical instrument.  Note : The children must have their own guitar. Homework Club offers an excellent opportunity for children to do their homework in a quiet and structured environment under the supervision and guidance of a teacher. Homework Club runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 pm to 4 pm and is open to all children from 1st-6th class.  For any questions please email rkelly@smpps.ie

Indoor Games & Social Club: This camp takes place each Thursday.The club aims to provide lots of fun gaming activities in an inclusive supervised environment. The children will play pool (two pool tables), foosball, table tennis, air hockey, darts, chess and many more  board games. There will also be a NEW ‘Green Screen’ for the children to create their own animations and background scenes.  For ALL queries please email chanlon@smpps.ie

Lego Club: Lego Club runs on Wednesdays from 3 pm to 4 pm and is open to all children from 1st-6th class. Lego club is all about having fun. We like to use our imagination to build and create. We also have other Lego sets to build using instructions and to play with. Lego Club is an excellent opportunity to meet new people, work as part of a team and take on design challenges. If Emmet were to describe Lego club I think he would say "Everything is awesome, everything is cool." We look forward to new master builders joining the team this year. M.A.D Hatters Club: Join us in M.A.D. Hatters club where you will enjoy the wonderful world of music, art and drama combined. We will have so much fun learning and writing songs, making music, creating our own artworks and even writing our own plays. Come and join us and be part of the greatest show! Make It & Bake It Club: Do you like getting creative? Have you got a keen eye for design and awesome cupcake decorating skills? Do you ever think about making things that you can use? Have you ever fancied putting you baking skills to the test? This is the club for you - we do it all. From decorating cupcakes to making incredible crafts from fabric, scoobies, loom bands, beads, clay and other materials. Mindfulness:  Looking for a space to slow down and unwind? Our brand new Mindfulness club could be the perfect thing for you. Our club will be filled with a beautiful balance of relaxation, movement, creativity, social opportunities and much more. All of this, while having FUN! Science Club: Fancy yourself as a Scientist? Then come join Science Club where you will do fun, freaky and fantabulous experiments and answer questions that would blow your mind! (Not really) Every member will get hands on for some science fun. Bring your inquisitive mind, imagination and ideas! (And your science goggles). SMPPS Got Talent: Come showcase and develop your talents with ‘SMPPS got Talent’ Club. Engage in a variety of activities ranging from group and solo singing,dancing, comedy shows, playing instruments and much, much more. Speech and Drama: Through vocal warm ups and speech activities we develop vocal projection, and clarity, extending our oral language skills.  The art of pause, emphasis, inflection, pitch rate and pace are explored through poetry, prose, reading aloud and Drama.  Through games and exercises we hone in on our public speaking skills developing fluency and confidence in our speech. Spikeball is a child-friendly modified version of volleyball. it is an all inclusive game with six players on each team. Over the past two years we have been crowned Leinster champions and have also made it to the all Ireland finals in Limerick. Come get involved in our school team. This is a school team activity. Tag Rugby With the Rugby World Cup just around the corner, what better way to encourage your child to stay active then by taking part in the fun, safe, non-contact sport of tag rugby. Children will learn a variety of handling, kicking and running skills and drills which will progress to fun fast-paced games.  This club aims to develop your child's spatial awareness, coordination and teamwork skills.
